It's funny how my resume is becoming a list of things I'm good at and that I hate to do.
Hate is a bit of a strong word here, but being a UI Artist is not as fulfilling as I wish it were, given it's what I spend most of my time doing.
I have a really good gig at the moment but I'm aware that the whole package is one lucky set, with a cool game, interesting work, and awesome people.
I know that as soon as one of these parameters goes missing, my good old grump will kick back in and I'll be back to square "I'm wasting my job-life" in no time.
So now is the time for me to learn properly how to draw and paint, hopefully to become a concept artist (or art director, let's be crazy) in a near-ish future.
I'll try to post a lot of things, meaning I'll try to make a lot of pictures, probably some more or less messy ones since I'll post most of the exercises I do.
I need to make :
- series of pictures sharing the same tone, to work on consistence
- not only characters but also environments
- more complete almost illustrations kind of pictures that give a narrative context to the pictures I make.
Additionally, it's probably a good idea to keep track of how long it takes me to make a picture so I'll try to measure that too.
In conclusion, I mostly need to produce more stuff, and throw it out here for you to judge.
Resolution ahoy! ^^
